Abstract

Undoubtedly the COVID 19 pandemic in India has very severely impacted, rather negatively, the employment figures of India since early 2020. We have seen so many scenarios since March 2020 like corona infection in huge number, corona testing, containment zone, safe home, quarantine, mask, sanitiser, PPE kits, rushing of ambulances, heltering-skeltering of the health personnel, i.e. doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, other support staff, police personnel and most shocking helpless deaths. Side by side, Those who were lucky to get any public transport used it. But millions of hapless migrant labourers including their families took to the street for their native places or unknown places.  Employment and employability of its labor force is vital for the economy of India. Human resource is one of the powers of India. In current times of crises our employment structure has been badly affected. The economic impact of lockdown to control the second wave of COVID 19 has shown up in double digit unemployment figures in May 2021. When the nation was locked down, almost all the daily wage earners lost their source of income or employment. Besides being the greatest health emergency of our time, COVID 19 is a multidimensional crisis that threatens broader peace and stability. The crisis may exacerbate structural fault lines and grievances, increase mistrust, discrimination and perception of injustice over access to health services, decent jobs and livelihoods
